Paediatric Play Specialist/Paediatric Play Worker
(Fixed-Term Contract Play Specialist and Permanent Play Worker)

The Portland Hospital are going through a period of significant growth with the enhancement of current and the addition of new Children Services facilities. This exciting time brings with it an extension to the therapy department which will include working with children 0-16 years in different ways relating to the care they need, this will include:
- Preparing them for theatre and working with them post-operation
- Using distraction therapies
- 1-1 therapeutic care
- Group Play sessions
- Designing Play programmes
- Developmental goal setting
- Family and sibling support to our families from different cultural and religious backgrounds
To be successful for the Play Specialist positions or the Play Worker position you will need skills in the above areas. For the Play Specialist position you must also hold a relevant qualification and be registered with HPSET; To be successful for the Play Worker position you must hold an NVQ / Healthcare level 4/5 or equivalent.
